Give Future You Something to Thank You For

Summer break hits differently when you’re a creative. While school is on pause, your creative growth doesn’t have to be. The next few months are a chance to build the kind of experience that can't always be taught in a classroom.
‍

Think beyond getting a summer job. Ask yourself: What could Future Me thank me for in September?
‍

Maybe it’s: Building the portfolio you've been putting off. Landing your first internship or freelance client. Learning a new creative skill. Meeting other artists at local events. Posting your work consistently on socials. Finally creating that passion project that's been sitting in your Notes app.
‍

LA is full of opportunities, from paid arts internships and creative career programs to workshops, exhibitions, and networking events designed for young creatives.
‍

Your Summer Challenge
‍

Choose one goal for the next 8–10 weeks, then break it into small weekly milestones:
‍

  • Apply to one internship or opportunity.
  • Reach out to one creative professional on LinkedIn.
  • Finish one portfolio project.
  • Attend one creative event or workshop.
  • Learn one new skill that makes you more versatile.
    ‍

By the time summer ends, you’ll have new work, new connections, and proof that you invested in yourself.  That kind of prep opens doors long after summer is over.
