Honoring Black Los Angeles: The Story of Destination Crenshaw

Destination Crenshaw is a 1.3-mile open-air museum and cultural corridor along Crenshaw Boulevard, celebrating Black Los Angeles through art, design, and community. Built by and for the people of South LA, it’s a permanent monument to creativity, resilience, and belonging.

Founded by Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson and powered by the people of South Los Angeles, Destination Crenshaw brings together visionary artists, architects, and community leaders to transform one of LA’s most historic streets into a global landmark for Black culture. When the new Metro line was set to cut through Crenshaw Boulevard, threatening to erase the identity of this historic corridor, the community turned resistance into renaissance.

From world-renowned installations to bold architectural design, art is at the heart of Destination Crenshaw. The space fuses creativity and craft, turning Crenshaw Boulevard itself into a living canvas that honors the past and shapes the future.
