Kyra Sullivan, a 16-year-old Long Beach-based creative, is asking: Why choose between STEM and art when you can do both? She founded NeuroArt, a nonprofit NeuroArt International Research & Creative Fellowship bridging the gap between neuroscience and art for students and mentors seeking elite impact. Kyra aims to bring neuroscience, research, and creative expression into the same space after realizing she didn’t want her love of science to push creativity out of her life. Her biggest creative leap? Taking NeuroArt from online content to a summer research program, where she stepped out from behind the screen to lead meetings and work with participants from different countries. Kyra hopes to become a neurologist or neuroscientist while growing NeuroArt far beyond high school. Her advice to young creatives? Be unique. “If you’re not doing it, who’s going to do it?”
