Cathie Arteaga, 22, is a South Central LA-based photographer, videographer, and creative using her lens to tell stories that actually feel something. From working with organizations like the Young Musicians Foundation and Heidi Duckler Dance to building multimedia installations, Cathie is proof that creativity and community can go hand in hand. One of her biggest flexes? Creating a multimedia exhibit called “What Keeps Me Going,” where she turned her real life into art using clay figures, video footage of LA, paintings, and personal storytelling to represent all the “hats” she wears: artist, daughter, caretaker, and more. Cathie says LA and her grandmother, Consuelo, are her biggest inspirations. Her advice for young creatives? Stop comparing your timeline to everybody else’s. Your perspective is your power.
