Cameron Petrusevski, 25, is proving you don’t have to choose between STEM brain and creative brain. The UCLA grad student and filmmaker is blending atmospheric science with storytelling to make topics like wildfires, weather, and climate actually make sense to the rest of us. He co-created Jibber JABR, a science communication series that’s already scored funding for a second season, and he’s taking his camera into the field for a documentary connected to NASA’s INSPYRE project studying wildfire-generated thunderstorms. A cancer survivor and Interstellar superfan, Cameron has learned a thing or two about taking big swings. His advice for young creatives? Just start — even if it’s messy. Ask questions, find your people, and trust that your ideas are worth putting into the world.
