Snap Foundation Will Launch The Creator’s Compass Newsletter in January 2026

Snap Foundation is thrilled to launch a brand-new newsletter designed to serve Los Angeles’ creative youth as a definitive resource for creative job opportunities, skill-building, and community connection.

Rooted in the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring equitable, well-resourced pathways into the creative economy for underrepresented youth across LA, The Creator’s Compass—a newsletter and companion webpage—will serve as a centralized careers and education hub for the city’s next generation of artists, designers, filmmakers, photographers, dancers, actors, apparel manufacturers, coders, musicians, makers, and more. With a particular focus on creatives historically excluded from opportunity, The Creator’s Compass fills a significant gap in LA’s artistic ecosystem: a single, accessible space where high school students, college students, and early-career creatives can find inspiration, practical tools, and real-world connections—all in one place.

Led by author, speaker, and entrepreneur Ashley Ratcliff Lundy, The Creator’s Compass will feature editorial segments designed to inform, inspire, and activate young creatives. Core features include Creative of the Week, spotlighting emerging creatives alongside one actionable “lesson learned,” and On the Market, a curated roundup of verified job listings, paid opportunities, and open calls tailored specifically to creative careers in Los Angeles.

Monthly features will dive deeper into education, process, and place. These include Learn from the Best, short-form video interviews with leading LA-based creators; Show Your Work, a visual exploration of creative process across disciplines and mediums; Momma, I Made It, highlighting young professionals who are thriving in their creative fields; and What’s Good in the ’Hood, a rotating spotlight on LA neighborhoods and the resources they offer artists, from affordable workspaces and open labs to community events and creative hubs.

Centering youth voices was essential to the development of The Creator’s Compass. To shape the publication’s editorial direction and visual identity, the Foundation convened a focus group of young creatives representing diverse ages, disciplines, and neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Their insights directly informed content priorities, resource selection, and outreach strategy. Building on this commitment to inclusion, the Foundation will also establish a Youth Editorial Council composed of young Angelenos who will meet monthly with the newsletter team to help guide strategy, storytelling, and long-term impact.

Snap Foundation’s goal is to help young, creative Angelenos secure meaningful and gainful opportunities in the creative sector amid its ever-changing landscape. Creative jobs in California, and especially Los Angeles, make up a large portion of the economy, and yet, specific support for the development and education of young people in these fields dwindles. As The Creator’s Compass grows, the Snap Foundation hopes for access and support to grow along with it.

The first issue of The Creator’s Compass will hit inboxes on January 15th, 2026. Young creatives, educators, and community partners are invited to subscribe, share, and help shape the future of The Creator’s Compass. For more information, click here.
