Chloe Hiu See Tsang is a visual artist and graphic designer at Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA), creating whimsical characters through illustration, sculpture, and ceramics while exploring emotion, identity, and social themes. A major career turning point came through the Snap Foundation Youth Advisory Council, where an internship introduced Chloe to ICA LA and helped launch the path to her current role there. She’s been at ICA LA for three years.
ICA LA is a contemporary art museum featuring works by underrepresented artists and programs that reflect the diversity of our city and the world. Chloe shared that a bold creative risk she’s taken as an artist was participating in ICA LA’s biannual Incognito benefit sale last November by submitting a ceramic piece — a giant cat head with a tiny screaming cat inside — rather than an illustration. She had only been doing ceramics for less than a year and was unsure of the response, but the piece sold at the event, which provided validation and encouraged her to continue with ceramics. Watch the video above to learn how Snap Foundation has been supportive on Chloe’s professional journey.
